2018 Year in Review

I don’t know what to say other than 2018 was amazing. One of the main reasons I love my camera so much is that it satisfies my need for variety. I’m an enneagram 7, which can mean a lot of things, but the basic motivation in my life is seeking out new, interesting, and fun experiences.

2018 fed my “7” cravings in SO. MANY. WAYS. I saw new places, met new people, and challenged my brain in new ways. I started writing for local publications around the Triangle which allowed me to use my Journalism degree and try my hand at photojournalism, which has always been a dream of mine.

I captured weddings, newborns, families, engagements, small businesses, non-profits, bloggers, and more. I LOVE THEM ALL and I love every single client, both new and old, that let me come into their lives behind my camera. If I could write more on my blogs about my projects (here and mickandco.com) I would, but honestly, most of my emotional energy is drained by the end of the day (when I have time to write). I can handle articles because they are mostly interviews and facts, but authentic writing is not available to me while I’m parenting four littles. AND THAT’S OK.

People keep telling me there is a time for everything, and in this season, my focus is God, my family, and whatever projects I am blessed to get. Because that is something I truly believe - each time I go out to write or take pictures, it’s because I was meant to be there in that moment with those people.

And every time I take a shot, I try to tell a story just as much as when I write. So, because I had a full day of wrangling my kiddos, I will let the images do the talking. Here’s just some of what I captured in 2018.

But before I go I want to say thank you to my clients and editors who believe in me, share their love with me, and fill my “7” bucket. I love you.
